The Eyetoad Creative Society e.V.
The Eyetoad Creative Society e.V. is a non profit association which was founded at WealdCon 2025. The idea was to back up the game and the community with a legal entity in all its creativity. “e.V.” stands for “eingetragener Verein” which means that the association is officially registered as a legal entity with a proper and solid constitution according to German law.
Why a non profit association?
A registered, non profit association is run by its members. In our case each active member has the right to partake in the decision making processes. The association is responsible for its actions but it is a legal entity by its own means. It’s a solid entity which is robust enough to handle usual single-person dependency problems we see with other Indie games and initiatives.
As an association member you have to pay membership fees. That’s similar to a Patreon subscription without the third party platform taking fees from the creator’s money.
If a YouTuber stops their work their community falls apart because it was only run because of a single person’s motivation. If one of the association’s members would leave the association the work they granted to the association will stay part of the association.
The non profit status of the association forbids members to take benefits of any kind from the association’s means. That way we ensure that the money the association has is solely spent on the aims of the association.
As there’s not a single person’s purse behind the association’s money, but an organization it is guaranteed that the money will be used for the goals of The Eyetoad Creative Society e.V.
The Eyetoad Creative Society e.V. is run by an Operation Leadership Team which is the equivalent to the Executive Board within the meaning of the German Civil Code (BGB).
All decision made within The Eyetoad Creative Society e.V. are consent based according to our Holacracy Constitution (see Wikipedia)
